Morgan Carns

I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina but lived outside of Miami, Florida before then.  This meant my parents had every opportunity to take myself and my sister to Disney which was nice because we were still at an age when everything was magical about those four parks.  Even though I no longer live close to Orlando it has not prevented my parents from taking the occasional trip.  My mom and I recently went over spring break to Magic Kingdom and it was still an enjoyable experience, especially with the thrill of being back so soon with all of my friends.  As an applied mathematics major with a data analytics minor, I knew I wanted to go on this at some point and since I am officially a senior there was never a better time to apply.  When I was looking at colleges in my junior and senior year of high school one of the deciding factors on coming here was the opportunity that Math and the Mouse provides to those who attend.  We will explore different mathematical concepts with a hands-on approach while also networking with Disney officials and other employers throughout our stay.  One of the things I am looking forward to on this trip is hanging out with some of my best friends while also getting to know the others I do not.  One of my other friends made sure to stock up on some games we could play while traveling to and from the parks or during our limited free time.  Another thing I am looking forward to is trying the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride because I have not been to Epcot since the ride opened.  Finally, the last thing I am looking forward to is trying some new restaurants because my family has traditionally grabbed something quick like a Mickey pretzel which would be consumed on the way to the next ride.

Regarding rides, I love a bit of everything, but I am a thrill seeker who enjoys a good rollercoaster.  If I had to pick a favorite rollercoaster I would have to go with either Space Mountain in Tomorrowland, located in the Magic Kingdom. I have fond memories of riding it repeatedly with my dad when I was younger, or Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom because I convinced my younger sister to ride it. After all, it was not that scary to me anyway, however, I neglected to tell her it went backwards which led to some hilarious screams and faces.  If I had to pick a good ride that is more laidback and gets you out of the Florida heat I would have to go with Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland, also located in the Magic Kingdom.  This ride is a personal favorite because I have been obsessed with pirates from a very young age and the movie franchise is one of my go-to series if I ever get bored.

While you can not go wrong with just eating some popcorn as a snack which is my go-to choice I have a favorite restaurant.  While my mom and I were in the Magic Kingdom for the day over spring break we got some last-minute reservations at Belle's Castle in Fantasyland.  While this was more on the expensive side the entire experience was incredible from the theming to the food everything was spectacular.  I ordered a meal they were debuting for the first time which paired well with the appetizer and dessert I chose.
