There are two main reasons I am looking forward to Math and the Mouse. First and foremost, I enjoy all things optimization, data, and discovery. MatM will challenge me to learn and approach a lot of real-world problems in new ways, and that is invaluable experience I can apply later on. Secondly, everyone here is here because they want to be, and being surrounded by like-minded people as passionate as you are is an incredible feeling. Over the course of the next few weeks, I look forward to connecting, growing, and learning with my classmates.
While I am here at Disney, there are three things I must do. The last time I came to Disney, I was too scared to ride the Rockin’ Roller Coaster or the Tower of Terror. This time, I will conquer my fears and ride both. Next, I am really looking forward to seeing the behind-the-scenes of Disney’s operations. I can only imagine that decades of work has lead to some very creative solutions to tough problems, which I hope will give me a leg up into solving similar problems I encounter after Furman. Lastly, I want to solve something. Whether or not P = NP may be a bit of a reach, but at the very least I hope to contribute to Disney, it’s partners, or data analytics and operations research in general.
It’s been several years since I last came to Disney, so I look forward to exploring and experiencing everything again. I hope to see as much of the park as I can, bond with my classmates, and learn about data analytics and operations research. Here’s to Math and the Mouse 2024!
