Mara Johnson

Hi everybody! My name is Mara Johnson, and I just wrapped up my sophomore year as an Educational Studies and Applied Math double major here at Furman. I am from Maryville, Tennessee, and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this amazing experience!

I have so many fond memories with my family from my handful of trips to Disney World we've taken since I was a little kid. Some of my favorites at the time included Animal Kingdom, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and the fireworks show on Main Street, U.S.A. While the rides were great, my absolute favorite part of these trips was my dad's and my tradition of eating a Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar first thing every morning we were in the parks (we called it the "Ice Cream for Breakfast Club"). I'm counting down the days until I can eat some ice cream in his honor, try the awesome rides that didn't exist the last time I was there, and make so many new memories as an adult!
In addition to Disney itself, I am thrilled to be able to get my feet wet with some experience in math in the real world! I have always been someone who loves math, but my math experiences have stayed firmly planted in the classroom. I am so looking forward to seeing what the applied side of math is all about, especially in such a cool place with such cool people!
