Isabella Sanchez

Hi, my name is Isabella Sanchez and I am from Marietta, GA. I am a first-year at Furman, intending to major in mathematics-economics. I'm so excited for the opportunity to explore applications of math and data analytics at Disney World. I'm also looking forward to collaborating and making memories with my new friends and classmates.

When I first walked into the study away fair months ago, Mickey Mouse's smiling face immediately caught my eye. I couldn't believe that Furman would actually give me credit for riding roller coasters for three weeks. I was even more happily surprised to find out this MayX was in the math department, something I was trying to explore more of. I love math and I love Disney, so it was a perfect match. In my first semester at Furman, I tried a little of everything, including an economics class, which I found especially interesting. However, I didn't get the chance to spend much time in the math department. Fortunately, in my last semester, I did manage to fit a few math classes into my schedule, and they cemented my choice to major in mathematics-economics.

Disney World is special to me because of all the memories I have with my family. I went a few times when I was really young, and although I can't remember everything from that time, I still remember how happy I felt. I was lucky enough to go back a few years ago with my dad, and we absolutely nerded out on Star Wars the entire time. (Though, bringing the lightsabers back home on the plane did cause a few problems).

My favorite ride at Disney is Smuggler's Run (it's the Millennium Falcon!!!!!), and I hope to ride it a million more times during this trip. I'm so grateful for this amazing opportunity and I can't wait to get started! As Anakin Skywalker once said, "this is where the fun begins."
